Let the train take the strain
In many ways it is quite remarkable that I can take myself and my trusty steed the length of Britain by train for less than £100.
Admittedly, I booked that which could be booked, two minutes after the tickets were released, which was eleven weeks ago (12 weeks before departure)

Now I hope that the trains are on time because it could take me 30 minutes to cycle between the stations and then I have to cycle the TEN miles between Penzance and my overnight accommodation at Land's End Hostel and B&B.
I am slumming it in the B&B.
So far so good. The threat of train strikes seems to have dissipated for the moment but I still have to get to Edinburgh Waverley for 09.30 on Thursday June 9th.
Cycling is probably out of the question so I am left with a choice of THREE commuter trains from Ladybank, which can't be booked and which have two bike spaces each (which can't be booked) The trains leave Ladybank at:

The plan B is a dash in the car to a point in Edinburgh near enough for me to cycle to Waverley Station by 09.15. Who's taking the strain now?
Any suggestions for a more viable plan C gratefully received.
UPDATED
On our trip to Edinburgh for Pauline's 70th birthday, I got chatting to the conductor on the train who assured me that I would be able to get on the train with my bike "even if there were already two bikes on board"
As has the fantastic flood of incredibly generous donations been very gratefully received. As I write this the total donated is well over £2000 without taking account of Gift Aid. Fantastic!!
However I must now admit to feeling a little bit of pressure to perform. It will soon be my turn
to take the strain.
